Eddie Marcus, our dedicated carer for over 4 years from South Belfast, whose commitment to the Cancer Fund for Children spans over three decades. This August, Eddie is spearheading a monumental fundraising event, demonstrating his unwavering support for the charity. Alongside four friends, Eddie will cycle more than 200 miles from Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co. Mayo to Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, Co. Down in just two days!

Eddie’s journey with Cancer Fund for Children began 30 years ago. Since then, he has been a cornerstone of the organisation, setting up various fundraising groups in his local area, and chairing both the Maysfield and South Belfast Support groups. His tireless efforts have not only raised significant funds but also heightened awareness about the charity’s mission to support children and families affected by cancer.

Throughout his 30 years of volunteering, Eddie has led teams in organising a diverse array of community fundraising events. From football matches and street collections to spin challenges and comedy nights, his creativity and leadership have engaged the community and garnered substantial support for the cause.

Eddie’s dedicationto Cancer Fund for Children and his ability to inspire others have resulted in over £400,000 raised in the past 15 years alone. His contributions were formally recognised in 2017 when he was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) at Hillsborough Castle for his services to fundraising and volunteering.

Eddie’s passion for the cause extends beyond organising events. He actively promotes the work of Cancer Fund for Children within his community, encouraging local businesses and individuals in South and West Belfast to volunteer at fundraising events or even initiate their own. Moreover, Eddie often reaches out to those diagnosed with cancer, offering support and information about the charity’s services.

This upcoming cycling challenge is yet another testament to Eddie’s relentless commitment. As he and his friends prepare to embark on this 200-mile journey, they not only aim to raise funds but also to inspire others to contribute to the cause. Eddie’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact one individual can make through dedication, community spirit, and a passion for helping others.

Join Eddie Marcus inhis fundraising efforts this August and support the Cancer Fund for Children. Your contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of children and families battling cancer. Let’s come together and pedal towards a brighter future for those in need.
